How does goal setting work?

Goal setting starts with your vision: who you want to become across life areas. Since version 1.42.0 you create goals in a few quick screens (pick an area, find a goal, choose days, answer a few ARCANE questions, review the plan), with up to three active goals, each tagged to a life area.

You can mark a goal complete, pause and resume it, edit it or remove it from the goal page. Existing "targets" from older versions carried over as goals, per Apple's release notes (App Store). The deeper logic of how ARCANE builds phases is covered in What is ARCANE?.

What is the morning briefing?

The morning briefing is the screen you open each day: your critical tasks for the day, built from your goals and synced with your calendar. Since version 1.42.0 the brief is written after you plan the day, so it reflects the plan you chose rather than a generic suggestion.

The official page frames it as "No deciding. No negotiating. No 'I'll start Monday.'" (official page). You can plan the next day from the brief, from a Plan Tomorrow button, or by asking ARCANE.

What is the Power List?

The Power List is the daily list of critical tasks inside The Operator Standard. The App Store description says you "track your critical tasks with your daily Power List," and the official page says completing all five means you have won the day. It is the core scoring unit of the app.

The Power List concept also exists as a separate, free app from the same publisher, The Power List (4.7 from 65 US ratings, October 30, 2026). The Operator Standard adds ARCANE planning, community, reports and lessons around it. If you searched for "Power List app," that standalone app is the free version of the idea.

How do streaks and strikes work?

Win the day by finishing your critical tasks and your streak grows; miss a task and you earn a strike. The official page describes it as "real momentum you can see and feel ... and slipping you can't hide from." Strikes are the app's consequence mechanism, replacing the restart-from-day-one rule of 75 HARD.

On what happens when you miss a day, the official FAQ says: "You'll be held accountable... This app is designed for real humans, not perfect ones" (official page). For how that differs from the 75 HARD challenge, see Operator Standard vs 75 HARD.

How do crews and leaderboards work?

Crews are small accountability groups whose members see each other's scoreboard; leaderboards rank members by XP earned from finishing tasks, winning days and stacking streaks. The publisher's 75 HARD finishers' page describes levels from Iron to Bronze, Silver and Gold. Since 1.42.0, any crew member can invite others.

The official page describes crews as "real people watching your scoreboard. Rankings, standings, social consequence" (official page). If public ranking motivates you, this is one of the features that is hardest to recreate with a solo habit app.

What are the weekly progress reports?

The Weekly Progress Report is a weekly readout of what moved, what slipped and where to focus next. Since version 1.42.0 the notification arrives at 12:30 in your local time. It pairs with the daily stats dashboard, which the official page says measures "your real effectiveness, not just activity."

What are custom challenges?

Custom challenges are targeted programs the system builds around your weak points; the official page says it "finds your weak points and builds targeted challenges that force you to level up exactly where you're weakest." You can also run 75 HARD inside the app, according to the official FAQ.

What content and community are included?

Every plan includes new episodes of The MFCEO Project podcast, livestreams with organised replays, and Topics, the community area where members discuss what they are working on. Lifetime members also get a monthly private livestream call; Founders get a monthly strategic call and a private feed.

Livestream details from version 1.42.0: the host can invite viewers who asked a question to join on stage, and replays are organised by host and category (App Store). The sales page describes The MFCEO Project as "the #1 business podcast on iTunes" from 2015 to 2019; that is the publisher's claim.

Which devices does it work on?

The Operator Standard runs on iPhone (iOS 15.6 or later) and Android. Apple's listing says it also runs on Macs with an M1 chip or later and on Apple Vision, as an iPhone app. We found no browser or Windows version as of October 30, 2026. The app is in English only.

Frequently asked questions

Does The Operator Standard have a desktop app?

No dedicated desktop app was listed as of October 30, 2026. The iPhone app can run on Macs with an M1 chip or later, per Apple's listing. There is no browser or Windows version we could find.

What is the difference between the Power List app and The Operator Standard?

The Power List is a separate, free app from the same publisher focused on the daily critical-task list. The Operator Standard is the paid system built around that idea, adding ARCANE AI planning, streaks and strikes, crews, reports, community and new podcast episodes.

How many goals can I have in The Operator Standard?

Up to three active goals at a time, each tagged with a life area, since version 1.42.0 released in late October 2026. You can pause, resume, complete, edit or remove goals from the goal page.

Can I do 75 HARD in The Operator Standard app?

Yes. The official FAQ says "You can run 75 HARD inside the app," while noting the system is built for long-term use rather than a single 75-day challenge. The standalone 75 HARD app also still exists.

How long does The Operator Standard take each day?

The publisher says a few minutes in the morning and a few minutes at night: plan or review your tasks in the morning brief, then journal at night. Executing the tasks themselves takes whatever time they need.
