Who created 75 HARD and The Operator Standard?
Andy Frisella created both. On his official Operator Standard page he writes, "I also created 75 HARD ... the mental toughness program," and says he decided in 2022 to build The Operator Standard. Both apps are published by 44Seven Media, LLC, so they share a publisher, though their apps and prices are separate.

What are the 75 HARD rules?
For 75 days in a row you follow a diet of your choice with no alcohol or cheat meals, do two 45-minute workouts (one outdoors), drink a gallon of water, read 10 pages of a non-fiction or self-improvement book and take a progress photo. Miss any rule and you restart at day one.
That is how Healthline and Cleveland Clinic both summarise the program. Cleveland Clinic adds that the two workouts need to be three hours apart and that audiobooks do not count for the reading.
The five rules:
- Follow a diet suited to your goals, with zero alcohol and no cheat meals.
- Do two 45-minute workouts every day, one of them outside.
- Drink one gallon (about 3.8 litres) of water.
- Read 10 pages of a non-fiction or educational book.
- Take a progress picture.
Is 75 HARD safe for everyone?
Not necessarily. Health writers flag the no-rest-day structure and 90 minutes of daily exercise as a risk for beginners, and a rigid gallon of water may not suit everyone. Penn State Health notes the program's own site recommends talking to a doctor first, and the experts quoted agree.
Read the details from Penn State Health News, CNN (March 2026) and The Conversation. The Operator Standard does not prescribe workouts or diets: your tasks come from the goals you set, so the physical load is up to you. This is not medical advice.
What does the 75 HARD app do?
The 75 Hard app tracks your daily progress on the five rules, sets reminders, stores progress photos and notes, and shows every attempt you have made. It also lets you continue into the year-long Live Hard program after you finish. It requires a subscription of $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US.
Per its App Store listing, checked October 30, 2026, the app lets you:
- Track your daily progress
- Set custom reminders for daily tasks
- Take and review daily progress pictures
- Share progress to an Instagram Story
- Save notes on each day
- See progress from every attempt
- Continue past 75 HARD into the full-year Live Hard program
It is rated 12+, has 4.5 stars from 6,406 ratings, and its latest version (2.0.4) came out on October 20, 2026. You do not need the app to do the challenge; the rules are free to follow on paper.
Is the 75 Hard app free?
No. The official 75 Hard app requires a subscription of $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US App Store, as of October 30, 2026. The challenge itself is free to follow: you can track the five daily rules on paper, in a notes app, or with one of several unofficial free tracker apps.
Unofficial trackers are not made or checked by the program's creator, so confirm they match the current rules on the official 75 HARD page before relying on one.
What does The Operator Standard do that 75 HARD does not?
The Operator Standard plans your day from your own goals. ARCANE AI breaks goals into daily tasks, a morning briefing syncs with your calendar, and you get streaks and strikes, crews, XP leaderboards, weekly reports, a journal, MFCEO Project episodes and livestreams. 75 HARD gives everyone the same five tasks.
The key differences in practice:
- Your tasks, not set rules. You might put a sales call, a workout and a hard conversation on the same day's list. See features and ARCANE AI.
- Ongoing, not a sprint. There is no day 75. Missing a task costs you your streak and earns a strike rather than restarting a program.
- People watching. Crews are small groups who can see each other's scoreboard. The 75 Hard app's listing mentions sharing progress, not a built-in crew.
- Teaching. New MFCEO Project episodes, livestreams and the Topics community area are included.
Can you do 75 HARD inside The Operator Standard?
Yes. The official FAQ says you can run 75 HARD inside The Operator Standard app, so you do not need both subscriptions to do the challenge while using the wider system. You would add the five 75 HARD rules as your tasks or as a custom challenge and keep your other goals alongside them.
Confirm the current wording on the official FAQ (official page) before you cancel a separate 75 Hard subscription.
How much more does The Operator Standard cost than 75 HARD?
A lot more. On the US App Store, 75 Hard costs $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, while The Operator Standard costs $49.99 a month or $549.99 a year. Buying The Operator Standard on its website is $50 a month or $500 a year, so the yearly web plan is about 12.5 times the 75 Hard yearly price.
| Plan | 75 Hard app | The Operator Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $4.99 | $49.99 (app) / $50 (web) |
| Yearly | $39.99 | $549.99 (app) / $500 (web) |
| Per day on yearly | about $0.11 | about $1.37 (web) |
| Free option | Follow the rules without the app | None on the main page |

Is there a free trial for 75 HARD finishers?
Yes. As of October 30, 2026, the publisher runs an offer page for people who have completed 75 HARD with a 7-day free trial of The Operator Standard, then $50 a month. That page says the $50 monthly rate is "locked for life." We did not find a free trial on the main sales page or in the App Store.
The trial offer is on the publisher's own site; search for its 75 HARD finishers Operator Standard offer, or ask in the 75 HARD community. Offers change, so read the terms at checkout.
Should you do 75 HARD or The Operator Standard first?
If you have never followed through on anything for 75 days, 75 HARD is the cheaper test of whether you will. If you already have discipline but lack a daily plan for business and life goals, The Operator Standard fits better. Many people do 75 HARD first, then use the finishers trial.
A simple way to decide:
- You want a fixed physical and mental challenge with a clear finish. Do 75 HARD; the app is optional.
- You finished 75 HARD and want to keep the momentum. Try The Operator Standard through the finishers trial before paying.
- Your goals are mostly business, career or projects. The Operator Standard is designed around those; 75 HARD's rules are mostly health and reading.
- Money is tight. 75 HARD costs nothing to follow. Do not pay $50 a month until a free method has stopped working. See Is it worth it?

Frequently asked questions
Is The Operator Standard the same as 75 HARD?
No. Both come from 44Seven Media, LLC, but 75 HARD is a fixed 75-day challenge with five set rules, while The Operator Standard is an ongoing app that builds daily tasks from your own goals with ARCANE AI. They have separate apps and separate prices.
Do I need the 75 HARD app to do 75 HARD?
No. The rules are free to follow and you can track them on paper. The 75 Hard app adds tracking, reminders, progress photos and the Live Hard follow-on program for $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US, per its App Store listing on October 30, 2026.
What comes after 75 HARD?
The 75 Hard app lists Live Hard, a full-year program, as the next step. The publisher also offers 75 HARD finishers a 7-day free trial of The Operator Standard, then $50 a month. Which you choose depends on whether you want more fixed rules or a system built on your own goals.
Is The Operator Standard harder than 75 HARD?
It is a different kind of hard. 75 HARD is physically demanding with zero flexibility for 75 days. The Operator Standard's difficulty depends on the tasks you and ARCANE set, but it never ends, and missed tasks show up as strikes in front of your crew.
Which app has better reviews?
On the US App Store as of October 30, 2026, The Operator Standard has 4.9 stars from 802 ratings and the 75 Hard app has 4.5 stars from 6,406 ratings. The 75 Hard app has far more ratings, so its average reflects a much larger and longer-running user base.
