Is Sunsama worth it?

Sunsama is worth it if you work at a desk, juggle tasks from several tools and want a guided ritual for planning a realistic day. It costs $17 a month billed yearly or $22 month to month, with no free plan. If you mainly need someone to hold you to the plan, it is the wrong tool.

This review uses Sunsama's own homepage, pricing page and US App Store listing, all checked November 2, 2026. We did not run timed tests, and we do not score apps with invented numbers.

What does Sunsama do?

Sunsama pulls tasks from your calendar, email, Slack and project tools into one daily plan, then walks you through choosing a realistic workload and timeboxing it on your calendar. During the day it offers focus mode and Pomodoro timers, and at the end a daily shutdown records what you finished.

The main features listed on Sunsama's homepage:

  • Guided planning and rituals. A morning planning flow that asks you to set a realistic workload.
  • Timeboxing. Drag tasks onto your calendar so you can see what actually fits today.
  • Integrations. Pull tasks from Asana, Trello, Jira, email, Slack and Teams, plus Zapier.
  • Weekly objectives. Set and track weekly goals.
  • Focus mode and Pomodoro. Mute distractions and work in timed blocks.
  • Daily shutdown and analytics. Track daily wins and see where your time went.

How much does Sunsama cost?

Sunsama Pro costs $22 a month billed monthly or $17 a month billed yearly, which works out to $204 a year. Teams pay the same price per person. Enterprise plans add SSO, SAML, SCIM and audit logs. Sunsama says prices are in whole dollars and it does not run lifetime deals or Black Friday sales.

Plan Price (checked Nov 2, 2026) What changes
Pro, monthly $22/mo Full product, cancel anytime
Pro, yearly $17/mo ($204/yr) About 20% less than monthly
Team $22 or $17 per person Same features, billed per seat
Enterprise Contact sales SSO/SAML, SCIM, audit logs

The $204 yearly total is our arithmetic from the $17 price. Sunsama's pricing page frames it as roughly a dollar per workday.

Is Sunsama free?

No. Sunsama has no free-forever plan. It offers a free trial that does not ask for a credit card, so you can test the planning ritual before paying. After the trial you need a Pro subscription. Sunsama says you can cancel yourself without contacting support and keep access until the billing period ends.

Is there a Sunsama mobile app?

Yes. Sunsama has an iPhone app rated 4.5 from 519 US ratings, version 3.2.1 released October 28, 2026. The App Store listing describes it as a companion to the desktop app: you see your daily plan and tasks on the go and it syncs Google and Outlook calendars, but heavy planning is designed for a larger screen.

That matters if you live on your phone. Sunsama is strongest at a desk.

What are Sunsama's pros and cons?

Pros

  • Calm, guided planning that pushes you toward a realistic day instead of a fantasy list
  • Strong integrations: calendars, email, Slack, Teams, Asana, Trello, Jira, Zapier
  • No-card trial, self-serve cancellation, SOC 2 compliance

Cons

  • No free plan, and $204 a year is more than simple task apps
  • Desktop-first; the phone app is a companion
  • Built for work. Nobody else sees whether you followed through, by design

What is the best Sunsama alternative if you need accountability?

If you plan well but do not follow through, The Operator Standard is the stronger fit. Its ARCANE AI turns up to three goals into five critical tasks a day, a missed task becomes a strike, and your crew sees your daily status. It costs more: $50 a month or $500 a year, with no free plan.

Why some Sunsama users switch to The Operator Standard

A good plan is not the same as a good week. Sunsama makes a beautiful plan and then trusts you to keep it. If that trust has failed you before, the missing piece is not another view of your calendar. It is a reason to finish.

  • Decide tomorrow tonight. Plan Tomorrow and ARCANE build your five critical tasks from your goals, so the morning starts with action, not triage.
  • Keep your word to yourself. Finish all five and you win the day and extend your streak. Skip one and you take a strike.
  • People in your corner. Your crew sees whether you are Not Started, In Progress or Won, and Crew Health shows how the group is holding up.
  • See the momentum. A Weekly Progress Report shows how many days you actually won.

It is phone-first, so it goes where you go. And because it is built around life goals, not just work tickets, it covers training, family and personal standards as well as your job.
