DAWG App Review (2026): What It Costs and Whether It's Worth It

DAWG - Discipline & Motivation turns habits into levels, ranks and challenges, with fitness, food and mood tracking built in. Here's what you get for the money, from its own listings and recent reviews.

By the Operator Standard Review editorial team · Last updated: · How we review

We work on The Operator Standard, a competing discipline app, so weigh our view accordingly. DAWG isn't ours and we haven't been paid by its maker. Every fact here comes from DAWG's own App Store and Google Play listings and terms, checked November 2, 2026, or from the third-party sources named at the bottom.

What is the DAWG app?

DAWG is a gamified self-improvement app from DWG Labs LLC, listed as DAWG - Discipline & Motivation on the App Store and DAWG - Self Discipline & Focus on Google Play. You check off habits and challenges to earn levels and ranks, and it adds trackers for lifting, food, mood and focus.

How much does DAWG cost?

In the US App Store, DAWG Premium is $19.99 a month. Annual plans are listed at $34.99 (a special offer), $59.99 and $79.99. On Google Play its in-app purchases run $14.99 to $49.99 per item. DAWG's terms say prices, trials and discounts can differ between users, so your paywall may show something else.

DAWG plan (US App Store) Price Per day
Premium Monthly $19.99 about $0.66
Premium Annual, special offer $34.99 about $0.10
Premium Annual $59.99 about $0.16
Premium Annual $79.99 about $0.22

Billing goes through Apple or Google. DAWG's terms say "all sales are final" and refund requests must go to the app store you paid through.

Does DAWG have a free trial?

Sometimes. AppPricer lists a 3-day US free trial on the $79.99 annual plan, but DAWG's App Store listing says a subscription is required to use the main features, and several recent reviewers say they were asked to pay with no trial. DAWG's terms confirm trial lengths can vary by user, so read the paywall carefully.

What features does DAWG have?

DWG Labs' terms list habit and routine tracking, programs and challenges, a lifting tracker, calorie, macro and weight tracking, an AI coaching chat, AI food-photo nutrition estimates, journaling and mood tracking, affirmations and an Accountability Mirror camera. The App Store listing adds a focus timer, breathing exercises, themes, widgets and community features.

Recent DAWG updates, per its App Store version history:

  • 8.0 (January 2026): community, limited-time challenges and a new rank system.
  • 8.9 (April 2026): a widget and a nutrition tracker.
  • 9.0 (April 2026): community mentions and workout templates.
  • 9.8 (October 30, 2026): the latest release at the time of checking.

One thing worth knowing: DAWG's terms say the community feed "may, now or in the past, include content" generated, seeded or supplemented by automated systems or AI operated by or for the company.

What do DAWG users like and dislike?

Recent fans praise the game feel, levels, themes, community and the satisfaction of checking boxes. Critics mostly object to paying before trying it, the $19.99 monthly price for what some call a basic task list, a slow press-and-hold to complete tasks, and having to pay again after switching phones.

We tallied the 100 most recent written US App Store reviews on November 2, 2026 (August 9 to October 30, 2026): 54 were four or five stars, 5 were three stars and 41 were one or two stars. Written reviews skew negative compared with star-only ratings, which is why the overall average is 4.8. Individual reviews also mention levels maxing out within weeks and a nutrition scanner that needed manual fixes.

Is DAWG worth it?

DAWG is worth it if you get the $34.99 or $59.99 annual offer and will use the fitness and food tracking, since that works out to 10 to 16 cents a day. At $19.99 a month it's harder to justify for a checklist alone, and it gives you no outside accountability beyond a community feed.

If what you need is people who notice when you skip, DAWG isn't built around that. The Operator Standard, where we work, puts you in a crew that sees whether you won the day, but it costs $49.99 a month in the App Store. Our DAWG vs The Operator Standard page lays out where each is stronger.

What are the alternatives to DAWG?

Life Reset is the closest match: also gamified, usually cheaper at $12.99 a month, with a 66-day plan and friends. Habitica is free with an optional $4.99 subscription. The 75 Hard app costs $4.99 a month for a fixed challenge. The Operator Standard costs more but adds goal-based planning and crews.
