We work on The Operator Standard, a different discipline app, so we're not neutral about this category. Neither DAWG nor Life Reset is ours. Everything below comes from each app's own App Store and Google Play listings, checked November 2, 2026, plus the third-party sources named at the bottom.
What is the difference between DAWG and Life Reset?
DAWG is an open-ended habit and challenge tracker from DWG Labs with levels, a lifting log, calorie tracking, an AI coach and a community feed. Life Reset, formerly Rise, from Savvy Tech Limited, builds a 66-day program from an onboarding quiz, then runs it as a game with quests, XP, streaks and an optional Hard Mode.

Is either app free?
No. Both are free to download, but DAWG's App Store listing says a subscription is required to use its main features, and Life Reset's says a subscription unlocks all features. Among recent App Store reviews, the most common complaint for both apps is meeting a paywall after a long setup and before trying anything.
If you want a free gamified habit app instead, Habitica is free to use, with an optional $4.99-a-month subscription. Our discipline app roundup lists other options with prices.
How do DAWG and Life Reset compare on features?
DAWG has more body tracking: a lifting log, calorie, macro and weight tracking, AI food-photo estimates and an AI coaching chat, per its terms. Life Reset has more structure and more tools against distraction: a 66-day plan, daily quests, Hard Mode, a screen blocker, meditation and book summaries. Both use XP, levels and streaks.
- DAWG releases this year added a community with limited-time challenges (8.0, January), a widget and nutrition tracker (8.9, April), and community mentions and workout templates (9.0, April), per its App Store version history.
- Life Reset releases added friends near your Season rank (6.5.3, September) and restored the option to extend your program, per its version history.
What do reviewers complain about?
For DAWG, recent reviewers mainly cite paying before they can try it, the $19.99 monthly price and a basic task list. For Life Reset, they cite a long quiz before the paywall, crashes and lost streaks or XP, and slow support. Both apps also have many five-star reviews praising the game-style motivation and daily structure.
We read the 100 most recent written US App Store reviews for each app on November 2, 2026. DAWG's (August 9 to October 30, 2026) split 54 four- or five-star, 5 three-star and 41 one- or two-star. Life Reset's (December 8, 2025 to October 30, 2026) split 52, 4 and 44. Written reviews skew negative compared with star-only ratings, which is why both overall averages are higher.
Which one should you pick?
Pick DAWG if you lift, track food and want an open-ended app with an AI coach and community. Pick Life Reset if you want a set 66-day plan, a lower monthly price, screen blocking and friends to compete with. If you want people who see when you skip, compare crew-based apps too.
That last group is where we work. The Operator Standard is built around your own goals and a crew that sees whether you won the day; it costs more, at $49.99 a month in the App Store. Read our DAWG comparison and Life Reset comparison to see where each beats it.
